Holiday Happenings in Downtown Salisbury!
Your holiday tradition begins here … Whispering your Christmas wishes to Santa and the Grinch … shopping to your heart’s content in unique and festively decorated hometown stores … ringing in the New Year with your entire family at the Old Bell Tower. Whether the solemn strains of “Silent Night” or the light-hearted lyrics of “Jingle Bells” is your Christmas melody of choice, Downtown Salisbury will be filled with a joyful sound throughout the holiday season.
Salisbury-Rowan County will offer many family, fun activities from the day before Thanksgiving through the end of the year! We kick things off with the 54th Annual Holiday Caravan Parade for more information on the Salisbury-Rowan County authentic holiday tradition! on Wednesday November 27th. The parade starts at 2:00pm in Spencer, winds it's way down Main Street to end up in Salisbury starting at 3:00pm. Come and enjoy the sights and sounds of marching bands, decorated floats, Santa, Miss Holiday Caravan, local high schools, Shrine groups, the Steel Drum band, and much more! Click HERE
Holiday Night Out and Black Friday takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving on November 29th from 5:00pm-9:00pm in Downtown Salisbury. Santa and the Grinch will make the first of several appearances during this free event. Stores will be open late with great Black Friday sales and will be offering special goodies too! Take a moment to enjoy the seasonal sounds of various musicians around downtown including the quartet Victorian Voices or hop on the horse and carriage and stroll throughout all the Downtown Christmas scenery.
Small Business Saturday is Saturday November 30th in Downtown Salisbury! Come downtown and shop small with unique small businesses that lined our beautiful town!
“Shop and Stroll” in the Downtown Shops every Friday evening from 5pm-8pm from Nov. 23 through Dec. 21st and you will be sure to check off all of those unique gifts from your holiday shopping list, while enjoying holiday festivities in a charming vibrant authentic North Carolina downtown.
Saturday November 30th from 10:00am - 12:00pm is Downtown Salisbury’s annual Santa and the Grinch at the Bell Tower. Another free event! The Grinch and Santa will be accepting visitors at the Bell Tower Park, corner of W. Innes and S. Jackson Streets. While you wait to visit with your favorite Christmas character, you’re welcome to help yourself to cookies and hot chocolate, and create a homemade Christmas decoration or two. Photos will be taken and posted on the Downtown Salisbury Facebook page on Monday December 2nd.
Beginning on Friday December 8th at 7:00pm and continuing through the weekend, the Arc Festival of Trees will once again be displayed in the F&M Trolley Barn (125 E. Liberty Street). The Rowan Museum's Annual Gingerbread House Workshop is on Sunday December 8th from 1:00pm-4:00pm in the Messinger Room of the Rowan Museum (202 N Main Street). $35.00 per child (price includes attached adult), and will include decorating a gingerbread house, photo with Santa, tours of the Museum and refreshments. Santa and the Grinch will be whirling around downtown on antique fire trucks on Saturday December 14th from 10:00am - 1:00pm - compliments of W.A. Brown & Son (weather permitting). And you’re invited to ride with them! Boarding for Santa and the Grinch Fire Trucks takes place in front of Okey Dokey & Co. (126 E. Innes Street). Sweet cookies and warm drinks are available while you wait along with lots of great Christmas crafts with for the kids!
Victorian Christmas at the Hall House is every Saturday and Sunday in December 1:00pm-4:00pm. The house provides a beautiful back-drop for the Victorian Christmas décor and will be themed "Toyland, Toyland!" this year.
