North Carolina Art Museums & Galleries in Salisbury-Rowan County

Salisbury-Rowan County boasts a variety of art venues including collective art galleries featuring multiple artists as well as individual artists' studios and is one of North Carolina’s fastest growing art communities.

A North Carolina Art Museum

The Waterworks Visual Arts Center presents local, regional, national, and international aesthetic and cultural diversity through the works of emerging-to-established artists. This North Carolina art museum offers an innovative program of exhibitions, education, and outreach that inspires and educates its regional audiences to explore the evolution and forefront of contemporary Art.

Rail Walk Art District

The Rail Walk art district features the Looking Glass Artist Collective whose members include visual artists, musicians, actors, writers and dancers. Rail Walk Studios has an array of individual artists working in mediums from sculpture to fine art, watercolor and oils.

North Carolina Art Galleries

Salisbury-Rowan County features several North Carolina art galleries, such as Green Goat Gallery, The Art Station, and Fine Frame Gallery, specializing in local and regional artists. EastSquare Artworks features four nationally established artists in sculpture, painting and glasswork rounds out some of the excellent art found in Salisbury-Rowan County.

Founded in 1995, Center for Faith & the Arts set out to be a regional center, to provide a functioning organization for relating faith to the high arts in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, eastern Tennessee, and northern Georgia. Serving that area remains the major mission of the Center even though the area has expanded a bit as the Center has become better known.         

The essence of all the Center’s activities is dialogue, engaging people in serious consideration and discussion of things that matter. The Center offers a wide variety of arts programs (architecture, cinema, dance, drama, fine art, literature, music, photography, and sculpture). These programs include reading and discussion groups, lectures, exhibits, and film screenings.




Clyde's

Description: On the site of Confederate Prison, houses antiques and artifacts. The 1840's log structure, overlooks where the main gate of the prison once stood. This structure was the Garrison house for the guards and is all that remains of the Salisbury Military Prison. Open Thursdays.

EastSquare ArtWorks' historical up-fit of an old bakery factory has brought the excitement of contemporary art and design to the historic beauty of downtown Salisbury, home of the Waterworks Visual Arts Center.
EastSquare ArtWorks' working studios, galleries, and arts incubator is the brainchild of four nationally established artists and entrepreneurs who relocated to Salisbury, North Carolina in 2006 from California, Colorado and Malaysia.

Green Goat Gallery & Blue Ewe Yoga Studio

Description: The Green Goat Gallery features fine, folk, and functional art and crafts for the home, garden, and person. The gallery represents scores of local and regional artists whose work includes pottery, jewelry, glassware, woodworking, textiles and more. The gallery is located at 516 South Salisbury Avenue in historic downtown Spencer. It is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30 to 5:30 p.m. Located in the rear of the Green Goat Gallery is the Blue Ewe Yoga Studio, which offers classes Monday-Thursday from 9:15-10:30 a.m.; Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:45-7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00-10:15 a.m. Anne Waters, the instructor, is a certified RYT® with Yoga Alliance. Looking Glass Artist Collective

Looking Glass Artist Collective includes an art gallery, the Black Box Theater for performing arts, and classroom space.  Also within the Collective is a retail gift shop featuring work from local artist members including pottery, paintings, sculpture, and stained glass.  Our artists also offer hand-woven baskets, hand-carved wood items, jewelry, books, and more. LGAC hosts art shows on a regular basis and participates in Salisbury and Spencer's 2nd Saturday Art Walk.  Looking Glass Artist Collective was founded in March 2008 to provide an opportunity for creative people of Salisbury N.C. to share space, resources and ideas. "The name "Looking Glass" was chosen because of the belief that, in our art, we see ourselves; and in a collective. what we do reflects on each other."  In addition to visual artists, members also include musicians, actors, writers, dancers, poets, and those who want to help promote the arts in Salisbury and Rowan County.  LGAC is also home to Lee Street theatre who regularly performs in the Black Box Theater.  It is also the venue for plays sponsored by St. Thomas Players and other theatre groups, as well as music events sponsored by Rowan Blues and Jazz Society.  The facility is available for rent for corporate parties, reunions, and other functions.  LGAC welcomes inquiries from other performing arts groups.  As there is no salaried staff, the organization is member managed.  Normal business hours are Wednesday-Friday 12-4pm and Saturday 10am-6pm.  The gift shop is open during events as well.
