Fall Fun on the Farm for Kids

  1. Patterson Farm: In addition to pumpkins, mums, apples and other Fall goodies, Patterson Farm offers many unique Fall attractions from field trips, weekday afternoons, and weekend festival events. Come out and enjoy a fun-filled day on the farm and create some special memories with family and friends.   2. Lazy 5 Ranch: Fall is in the air which means it’s time for Lazy 5 Ranch’s annual Fall festival. Activities include their straw castle, corn box, marshmallow roasting, pumpkin slingshot, a wide variety of Fall décor, kettle corn, corn hole and more. Learn More

Ghost Walks

  1. Gold Hill Ghost Tour: Many tragedies occurred at Gold Hill during a century of gold mining history. Some of those accidents have resulted in ghost stories, many of which have been passed down and retold through the years. Visit Gold Hill the Saturday before Halloween at 5:00 PM for a night of fun ghost stories at one of the most haunted sites in Rowan County. Meet at the Russell-Rufty Shelter to purchase tickets; must be purchased before 8:00 PM. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-10, under 6 free. Learn More
     
  2. Salisbury Ghost Walk: Enjoy a fun-filled 6-block walk in historic downtown Salisbury and hear the tales of haunts from days-gone-by that continue to reveal themselves today. These well researched stories are history based and designed to provide high quality entertainment. Tours meet on the steps of the old Salisbury Post office at 130 West Innes Street on Fridays & Saturdays in October at 8:00 PM or 10:00 PM. Haunted Houses & Trails

  1. Boogerwoods: Rated the most entertaining haunt in the Carolinas, Boogerwoods is celebrating their 40th year of fear and has become a Rowan tradition. Your guide will lead you through 14 spine chilling scenes throughout the Rockwell based attraction. Money raised from this attraction goes to support cystic fibrosis. Visit them Fridays and Saturdays in October beginning on October 13. Tickets are $15 per person; fast passes available for $25. Learn More
     
  2. Forbidden Forest: Also located in Rockwell, Forbidden Forest Horror Trail scares to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. General admission is $15 and fast passes are also available for $30. Open 5 nights only at the end of October, your nightmares will become real in the Forbidden Forest. Learn More
     
  3. Reaper’s Realm: China Grove is the home Reaper’s Realm, a haunted trail that includes a haunted barn, farmhouse and laser tag too. Open every Friday and Saturday in October and the 29th through Halloween night. Admission is $20 per person. Learn More

There’s even more ghoulish fun to be had at Salisbury’s annual Halloween Fun Fest on Saturday, October 28 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Sponsored by Salisbury’s Parks & Recreation Dept. and Downtown Salisbury, Inc., this event attracts families from all over the region. Save-the-date for this Halloween carnival which includes music, costume contests, crafts, a bounce house, face painting, games, and much more.
