Waterworks' Fall Art Exhibitions

Waterworks' Fall Art Exhibitions will feature works from three incredible artists. These exhibitions will include Ashleigh Coleman - Hold Nothing Back, photographs; Jane Cheek - Where We Built Our Dreams: Explorations of Belonging and Happy Spaces, mixed media installations; and Dori Settles - Shoes as Storytellers, glass.

 

We Built This: Profiles of Black Architects and Builders in North Carolina Exhibit

Now - January 27, 2024

We Built This celebrates the history and legacy of Black builders and craftspeople in North Carolina. Spanning more than three centuries, the exhibit provides more than two dozen personal profiles and historic context on key topics including slavery and Reconstruction; the founding of HBCUs and Black churches; Jim Crow and segregation; and the rise of Black civic leaders and professionals.

 

Jr. Artpops & Family Fun Embroidered Wool Ornaments Class at Waterworks

Enjoy the season as you create unique felted wool embroidered ornaments with Art Educator Denise Paugh. Young artists will learn simple embroidery techniques to decorate soft wool shapes with festive decorations. Denise guides artists through their holiday ornament designs and the basics of this emerging craft.

 

Craft Market at the Railwalk Pavillion

Every 1st Saturday, the Salisbury-Rowan Farmers' Market holds a craft vendor market at the Railwalk Pavilion in Downtown Salisbury. Join them for this display of local craft vendors and artists from 8 A.M. - noon.

Jr. Artpops & Family Fun Lantern Workshop at Waterworks

In anticipation of the Second Annual Lantern Walk, Waterworks will offer a Family Fun Day lantern-making workshop. Families may drop in to design/create their own illuminated lantern for the evening’s walk. During the workshop the staff will share techniques for creating paper lanterns.

 

Light Up the Night with Waterworks Visual Arts Center

December 9, 2023

Help us celebrate winter at Waterworks' second annual Lantern Walk. Bring your hand-fashioned lantern(s) and join us as we promenade through Hurley Park. We'll meander through the park along the path for an enchanting evening of artistic illuminations and then enjoy some hot beverages, music and entertainment.
