Nothing completes a trip to Rowan County better than a local dining experience. We've set out to highlight a few of the many local restaurants that make our destination an original place to visit and eat. We’ve created a series of some of our many favorite original restaurants in Rowan County. Up next, Mama T's of Gold Hill.

Mama T's of Gold Hill is located in the small old timey village of Gold Hill. They are the only full service restaurant in the village, and  are surrounded by unique local shops. Their rustic atmosphere is filled with fun events. They offer wine and beer tastings on Wednesdays, live music every weekend and karaoke on Sunday nights for all ages. They have indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating on their front porch and back patio. Their outdoor seating is perfect on a beautiful day with a bottle of wine, bucket of beer or a sweet tea.

Their menu is filled with southern favorites, like country style steak, cooked veggies and collard greens. They offer a bit of everything from filets to ribeyes, flounder, hamburgers, subs, baked spaghetti with homemade meat sauce and so much more.

Mama T's opened their doors 2 years ago at the request of the community to have a restaurant in the village of Gold Hill. The owners, the Troutman Family, already own and operate several restaurants and business in the Concord area, mostly named after their father. When they opened Mama T's, they decided to name it after Mama Troutman, who is still out and about at 91 years old. She even works behind the scenes at the restaurant as the building decorator.

The Troutman family sees their customers and their staff as family. They created a laid back atmosphere at Mama T's so that everyone could feel at home - put your feet up on the porch, relax, don't rush, don't stress. That's how the Troutman's want you to feel when you leave Mama T's and the rest of the village at Gold Hill.

You can find Mama T's of Gold Hill at 840 St. Stevens Church Road. Their hours are Wednesday 5 - 9 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. You can also find them on Instagram and Facebook.
