Great Heritage and Craft and Music Festival is held each September on the fourth Saturday. The day begins at 9am with Arts, Crafts, Heritage Living Displays, Gold Panning and more throughout the park. The Founders Day Parade begins at 10am followed by Entertainment at the Amphitheater at 11am. History Hayrides take place throughout the afternoon through the 70 acre park to sites including the Gold Hill Pond and the Powder House. The North Carolina Bluegrass Association will host music at the Amphitheater. A Civil War Living History Encampment will be set up at the Log Barn. Children can join the fun of finding gold nuggets hidden throughout the park. The nuggets can be used during the festival to purchase select items at the Park Information Booth near the jail.
