Visit Rowan County is continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 virus as it related to North Carolina and Rowan County. Our main focus is the well-being of our community and visitors. While this situation remains fluid, we continue to seek the recommendations of state and local partners. Visit Rowan County has closed their visitor center. You can always find information related to Rowan County, as well as updates on event postponements and cancellations on our website. 

 

Travel Advisory from VisitNC & NCDHHS

North Carolina is strongly urging residents and visitors to take precautions relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19), including social distancing, mask wearing and limiting nonessential travel. For more information on North Carolina relating to coronavirus, visitors can go to the website for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

 

Rowan County Park Information

Rowan County Parks will remain open but operating with limited amenities until further notice. 

Dan Nicholas Park open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Amenities closed: Restrooms, Campground (including Campground store and shower houses), Concessions stand, Rowan Wild (Rowan Wildlife Adventures, Nature Center, Stanback Barnyard), Gem mine store and sluices, Picnic shelters and tables, Miniature golf, Paddle boats, Tennis/pickleball courts, No organized sports or practice allowed on ball fields, Playgrounds, Hurley Station, Train, Carousel, Fishing pier

Amenities open: Park grounds open to walking, running, and biking, Park trails

 

Ellis Park open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Amenities closed: Parks office building, Restrooms, Picnic shelters, No organized sports or practice allowed on ball fields, Playgrounds

Amenities open: Park grounds open to walking, running, and biking, Disc golf course

 

Sloan Park open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Amenities closed: Kerr Mill, Restrooms, Picnic shelters, Playgrounds

Amenities open: Park grounds open to walking, running, and biking, Park trails, Disc golf course

 

Dunn’s Mountain Park open Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday 12:30 to 7 p.m.

Amenities closed: Restrooms, No van rides to top of mountain

Amenities open : Walking trail to top of mountain

 

Eagle Point Nature Preserve open Friday through Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Amenities open: Canoe/kayak access, Walking, running, and biking trails

 

Ways to Keep Rowan County Original 

During this time of uncertainty and adjustments in travel and events, we encourage you to remember that our destination is fueled by small businesses, restaurants and attractions that help our community thrive. 

Our small businesses, restaurants and attractions are ensuring proper sanitation for customers and visitors, and are following guidance from public health officials regarding the cancelling or postponing of events and gatherings. 

If you are unable to visit Rowan County physically, please consider supporting our small businesses, restaurants and attractions in other ways, such as:

  1. Patronize our small businesses by shopping online or via phone if available. 

  2. If you typically order products with local retailers later in the year, place your orders now if possible.

  3. If you do not need anything specific at the moment but still want to support local, buy gift cards to spend later in our stores and restaurants, or at our attractions.

  4. For restaurants, order takeout or delivery and tip the same amount as you would dining in.

  5. You can buy gift cards for many local restaurants, too.

  6. Purchase season passes or advanced tickets from local attractions for future use.

  7. Share this information widely so others know how to help.

Rowan County's small businesses are the livelihood of our community, as well us what makes us an original destination. We want to make sure they continue to stay successful while maintaining appropriate public health safety measures. Many businesses are offering additional services and take out options.
