Dan Nicholas park is a 425-acre park, located eight miles southeast of Salisbury. It offers a ten-acre lake for paddle boating and fishing, Rowan Wildlife Adventures nature center, tennis courts, picnic shelters, the Hurley Family Water Plaza, playgrounds, volleyball, horseshoes, ball fields, miniature golf, a carousel, gem mining, a fresh water aquarium, and miniature train ride for children. Dan Nicholas also has a 70 site family campground that includes an outdoor theater. Dan Nicholas does not charge admission. Some activities charge a small fee, but many of the park activities are free. Animals are allowed in the park, but are not allowed on attractions. Park hours vary by season. Easter egg hunts will be held Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at Dan Nicholas Park, Ellis Park and Sloan Park for infants to age 10.
